Last Thursday I was privieleged to be a part of the Community Blood Center’s Celebration of Giving Lunch. I was invited to come and lead the opening invocation, a real privelege.
The lunch recognized persons who had reached the 100 donation mark in the last year as well as a variety of different community organizations who had held drives and done great work through the year. There were also testimonies and stories shared about the, very literally, life saving power of donating blood.
I was proud to be there as a representatitive of Church of the Resurrection as the church was again this year honored as the largest blood drive in the KC metro area. In 2008 Resurrection’s drives collected 2,080 units of blood, a 38% increase over what the church collected in 2007. It was a fun time to celebrate with members of the church’s blood drive leadership team and to see their hopes and ambitions for 2009.
Well done everyone!
