Climate Change Conversation

My dad forwarded me this video some time ago now and I’m still struggling to fully process it. It’s a little lengthy (about 9:30) but definitely worth the time. It is the most straight forward, logical approach I have seen regarding this issue.

Take a look and let me know what you think.

Jeff – Thanks for posting this video. I had not thought about it quite like that before. Good stuff.

Simple logic is almost always bad logic:)

The number of potential futures are infinite in number.

He portrays the “cost” of doing something as “Global Depression.” He merely describes this as an economic issue.

I would invite anyone (as a history major) to look at the politics, social environment, and public health of the world whenever a global depression has hit…

Quadrant #1 and Quadrant #4 (diagonal from #1) are much more similar than he suggests.

Furthermore, nearly all of the world’s greatest social upheavals happen due to economic forces, which traditionally have been driven by climate.

Case in point: Why are Greek Philistines in Biblical Israel? Climate shift. How did humans get to the Americas in such great numbers? Climate shift. Why did the American economy completely collapse in the 30’s? Climate shift.

Climate shift has always been an enormous dictator of human history.

Climate shift will happen inevitably, so I don’t care for his happy outlook if we are “prepared.”

However, if we ARE causing this, then it is imperative for us to begin to change our ways.

So, in the end, I’d say that the very question he dismisses is still an important question to move forward.

However, global survival through nuclear arms reduction is still more important than most other issues due to the inevitability of another climate shift bringing global confict.

In the end, his “bad” scenario might be inevitable…And that is what we must be prepared for.

I’m no leftist pollyanna (zing), but the USA needs to lead the way in reducing nuclear armaments. We don’t need more than 200 nuclear warheads, yet we have more than x10 that many.
